Against the azure of its sea, rises the green of Nettuno's woods, forests and parks. They contribute to a better climate, enhance the landscape, and make a slay in Nettuno all the more enjoyable.
A lush crown of thick pine forest, centuries-old trees, and Mediterranean maquis surround the town and the medieval quarter.
The largest and oldest green area is the Foglino Woods, also known as the Nettuno Forest, which covers an area of approximately 500 hectares located two kilometers from the sea. There are two bodies of water there: the Vallone cupo, a perennial pool with marshes, yellow iris, water ranunculus; and the Laghetto Ranieri, a small lake towards the end of the woods nearest the town.
These woods are rich in ancient Holm and Turkey oak, and hornbeam trees. There is also a thick durmast vegetation and flowering ash, arboreal heather, myrtle, holly, dog rose, lentisk, sorb, and broom. |
